What we do
UCR's official thrift store for the whole community.
Bi-weekly, in-person sales featuring themed collections, such as furniture, tech, fitness gear and more. Open to everyone.
Specialty surplus, including vehicles, bulk equipment, lab supplies, machinery and items departments no longer need. Open to everyone.
Departments can transfer surplus items or request pickups, keeping usable equipment in circulation on campus. Open to faculty & staff.
90%+ of campus surplus is reused or recycled. Every purchase diverts waste and reduces the need for new manufacturing.
What you'll find
The usual suspects.
We regularly stock desks, tables, chairs, file cabinets, keyboards, mice, monitors, computers, TVs, lab supplies, office essentials and more. Departments across UCR turn over inventory constantly, which means fresh items hit the floor every sale cycle.

UCR is a research university. That means that over our 30 years in operation, we've seen some things come through ScotSurplus that you won't exactly find at IKEA, like boats, tractors, antiques, industrial machinery and the occasional item that makes even us do a double take.
You literally never know what might show up. That's kind of the point.

- All sales are final, and items are sold "as is, where is"
- Sale items are subject to prior purchase by campus departments and may not be available on sales day
- All items purchased on sale day by the public must be picked up within five business days, or the item will be considered abandoned and available for purchase at the next sale
